Bear repellent pepper spray
has been proven to be effective, and is unlikely to cause residual injury to
healthy
bears when used properly. When activated, it fires a highly concentrated fog
barrier of pepper ingredients.
It is designed for one-handed operation, and is proven to work on wild animals.
Using a bear deterrent helps
to prevent death and injury to humans and bears. Studies have shown that these
products may also help to condition wild animals to avoid humans, not unlike
they would avoid a skunk.
Failure to carry bear protection
into the wilderness may result in unnecessary death or injury to people and
bears.
Often, so called "problem" bears are hunted down and killed. If it
is a sow with cubs, the cubs can also die of starvation.
Also recommended is a nylon cordura
bear spray holster or pouch. These have an attached belt loop, so that
the
bear spray can be easily accessible at all times.
